The Taca de Portugal final of 2016 saw FC Porto take on SC Braga. André Silva scored in second-half stoppage time to send the match into extra-time and subsequently penalties. Ultimately though, it wasn't to be as Braga went on to win the shootout, 4-2, and claim only a second Portuguese Cup in the club's history. This came just a year after Braga had lost to Sporting CP in the final, also on penalties.
The 2019 Taça de Portugal final was contested between FC Porto and Sporting CP. Played in front of a crowd of 38,000 at the Estádio Nacional, the game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes and entered into extra-time. Both teams found the net again in the extra 30 minutes for the Portuguese Cup to be decided from the penalty spot. Sporting ultimately came out on top to claim a 17th Taca de Portugal crown.
