About FA Cup Tickets 2023/24

The FA Cup, or Football Association Challenge Cup as it was originally titled, has been running since 1871 and is arguably the biggest and most well-known club football tournament in the world.

FA History

The FA Cup is an annual elimination football competition. Every season, 736 football teams from ten different English divisions compete for one of the most prestigious honours in world football. Hence football tickets for cup matches every year being much sought after.

Since 2015, its name has been changed to The Emirates FA Cup for sponsorship reasons. The competition includes teams from the Premier League and English Football League (92 professional clubs), in addition to several non-league teams.

FA Cup Format

644 non-league teams enter the competition from levels 5-10 of the English football pyramid. The competition thereby starts with two preliminary rounds and four knockout matches.

After this round, a total of 160 teams compete in the second qualifying round. 80 winners from the previous round would then compete against one another in the third qualifying round. The fourth qualifying round is always contested by the 40 winning teams from qualifying round three and the 24 members from the National League.

Finally, the 32 emerging winners from the fourth qualifying round will progress to the first round proper, where 48 teams from League One and League Two will join them. The Premier League teams, as well as the championship teams, will be the last levels to join.

The Third Round is of particular importance as that's when Premier League sides join and can be drawn against any other side; football tickets for this round are very popular. FA Cup fixtures are the highlight for lower-league fans also.
