Czech Republic vs Slovenia UEFA Euros Tournament Record

The Czech Republic have enjoyed a decent level of success in the UEFA European Championships, arguably more so than you’d expect for a nation of their comparative size.

In their first finals tournament as an independent nation, Dusan Uhrin’s star-studded squad fought their way to the UEFA European Championship Final at Euro 96.

They started the competition with a 2-0 defeat to Germany at Old Trafford before beating Italy and drawing with Russia to secure second spot in their group. Liverpool playmaker Patrik Berger put the Czech Republic ahead just before the hour, but substitute Oliver Bierhof scored an equalizer to send the game to extra time and then grabbed a golden goal to clinch the title.

At Euro 2004, the Czech Republic looked on course to make it through to their second final but were surprisingly beaten by Greece, who went on to shock the footballing world and beat Portugal to take the UEFA European Championship crown.

Euro 2012 and Euro 2020 saw the Czech Republic make it to the Quarter-Finals, with Portugal and Denmark knocking them out in each tournament, respectively.

Slovenia’s only previous UEFA European Championship finals appearance came at Euro 2000 and saw Srečko Katanec’s side collect two points from three games thanks to draws against the Former Republic of Yugoslavia and Norway, with their only defeat coming at the hands of Spain.
