About Sacramento Kings Tickets 2023/24

The Sacramento Kings are a well-traveled team that has had a number of previous names and guises over the decades.

The Rochester Seagrams

They started life as the Rochester Seagrams, and by the time they joined the NBA in 1949, they had become the Rochester Royals.

Maiden NBA Title

In 1950-51 they romped to their first NBA Finals series and promptly beat the New York Knicks in seven games to win their first-ever NBA Championship.

Under coach Lester Harrison they regularly featured in the NBA playoffs but never matched that height again.

Moving to Cincinnati

The team relocated to Cincinnati in 1957 and became the Cincinnati Royals.

They competed in the NBA for 15 years based in Cincinnati and impressed in spells, getting to the Conference Finals in 1963, but they were once again on the move.

Kansas Calling

Between 1972 and 1975, the team played as the Kansas City - Omaha Kings before settling on Kansas City Kings between 1975 and 1985.

In 1978-79 they clinched the Midwest Division title, and in 1980-81 once again got to the Conference Finals, losing to the Houston Rockets in five games.

Relocating to Sacramento

In 1985 they were on the move again, this time switching to California's capital Sacramento.

They got to the playoffs in the first season as the Sacramento Kings but then failed to do so for nine years in a period that was pretty horrific.

Arguably their best period of form came in the late 90s and early 2000s, with players like Chris Webber and Mike Bibby impressing during Rick Adelman's period in charge.

Back to Back Divisional Titles

In 2001-02 and 2002-03, the Sacramento Kings won the Pacific Division and lost another Conference Finals series, on this occasion to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Between 2006 and 2022, the team failed to make it to the postseason, suffering losing seasons every year in the period.

Back at the Top

This was reversed in 2022-23 when new coach Mike Brown got his team to 48 regular season wins, a franchise-high for the last two decades.

Golden 1 Center Guide

The Sacramento Kings play their home games at the Golden 1 Center, which is based in downtown Sacramento and replaced their former home, the ARCO Arena.

The Golden 1 Center has a capacity of 17,608 for basketball games.
