Watford reached the final again in 1984, this time losing in a replay 0-2 to Everton.

They won Division Two (the second tier of English football) for the first time in 1982 and only failed to win the promotion again when they finished third in 1985.

Elton John & Watford

A strong pillar for Watford for many years has been someone with no football connection. A long-time supporter of the club, Elton John has served as chairman more than once.

He still serves as honorary chairman of the club and even has a stand named after him at Vicarage Road Stadium. Every time the players step on the pitch, the stadium is packed to the brim, and this season will not be any different. Getting to the top of the table will require the support of the Golden Boys' fans this season.

Vicarage road stadium

Vicarage road stadium is a football ground in Watford, Hertfordshire, England. It has been the home of the club since 1922 and currently has a capacity of 21,977.

The ground's name originates from when the club used to play at a ground next to the church on Cassio Road. The Walker Ground was named after the road, but renamed Vicarage Road in 1936.

Watford Rovers played at the original ground next to the church from 1896 to 1907, when they moved to Cassio Road.

The ground was eventually sold to developers and in 1914 they had built houses on the site with Watford FC moving in four years later.
