After a lengthy delay and with her fanbase nervously awaiting confirmation of an impending tour, Beyonce finally made the announcement that the world was ready and waiting to hear. The best-selling performer is set for a series of massive concerts across North America and Europe (with further dates sure to be added) and the level of demand for Beyonce tickets was precisely as huge as you would imagine.

Beyonce confirmed the speculation of a tour after picking up yet more Grammy Awards to add to her burgeoning collection, and in doing so, perhaps further advanced her position as the biggest music star on the planet.

Now, such a claim will no doubt lead to fervent fans of a certain performer clamouring to make their voices heard on the matter; the artist in question is the hugely talented Taylor Swift. Arguably, Beyonce is far more than the simple sum of her musical releases. Her impact beyond the musical boundaries is palpable. She has been a force for good for huge swathes of society, and her philanthropic work has been immense.

Also, to be clear, if Beyonce were to choose to tour for 18 months over the course of almost 150 concerts, we’d imagine the total in terms of dollars earned would be on par, if not in excess, of what Taylor Swift pocketed. Without wishing to anger Swifties, but let’s be honest, when it comes to her material (great that it is), it’s all a bit one-noted. How many times can you write songs about ex-partners and how their doomed relationships came to a conclusion? From a musical standpoint also, there is not exactly a huge shift in styles, which is fine, if it’s not broken, why fix it?

Beyonce, on the other hand, is not afraid to try new things, and whatever she turns her hand to is invariably made golden by her touch. She has flawlessly reinvented herself repeatedly and never at the expense of quality; she is truly unique in this sense.

Whether it’s going down a tried and tested route of R&B or pop or turning her hand to country, the path she treads is one that is not well-worn and is all the more glorious for it.

Fashion Icon Status

As a fashion icon and a global brand, Beyonce edges it in this category. Her face and brand resonate in all corners of the globe, arguably more so than Taylor Swift, and perhaps this is because she is more marketable and has had more years in the game, but for whatever reason, Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter just simply has more of an impact when it comes to visual footprint among the masses.
