Tokyo 2020 Olympics will be postponed to 2021 due to the Coronavirus – SeatPick Corona Virus updates

There are multiple reports from various Olympic Committee members that have publicly spoken about the postponement of the Tokyo Olympic games by one year.

On Monday, veteran IOC member Dick Pound told USA Today that the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games will be postponed, likely to 2021.

According to the current progression of the Corona Virus, and on the basis of the information that has been gathered by the IOC, the Olympic games are postponed, no official statement has come out yet but a majority of insiders have been claiming this to be true.

Too risky

In addition, on Monday, Yasuhiro Yamashita, Japan’s Olympic Committee President contradicted Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe who said that the Olympics should take place as scheduled.

It has already been declared by the Australian & Canadian teams that if indeed the Olympics takes place this year then they will not partake in the games. USA Swimming, on March 20th, urged the US Olympic Committee to postpone the games as the risk is too big to send US athletes in uncertain times.

At this point, it just seems inevitable and the most responsible decision to make in order to keep fans and athletes safe from the Corona epidemic.

No comment has been received so far from the IOC, but an official statement should be expected in the coming days
