Korn History

Korn were formed in the early 1990s with the band's original lineup consisting of lead vocalist Jonathan Davis, lead guitarist Brian Welch, James Shaffer, Reginald Arvizu and drummer David Silveria. The mosh pit kings released their self-titled debut album in 1994 on Epic Records, and it proved a moderate success that helped to build exposure for what was to come.

Two years later, their Life is Peachy release put them on the map. The second studio album sold over two million copies in the United States alone and spawned the singles No Place to Hide, A.D.I.D.A.S and Good God.

Follow the Leader

1998's Follow the Leader cemented their place as one of the biggest bands on the planet, reaching number one in the US and performing amazingly well worldwide. It sold over five million copies in the US and the single, Freak on a Leash, earned them the first of Two Grammys, those being for Best Short Form Music Video and Best Metal Performance, the latter being for Here to Stay.

Remarkable Staying Power

Issues, Korn's fourth studio album, also went to number one in the US, and this was followed by a run of massive albums, Untouchables (2002), Take a Look in the Mirror (2003), See You on the Other Side (2005), Untitled Album - Also Knowns as Korn II (2007) and Korn III: Remember Who You Are (2010), all reached the top ten in the United States, showing their remarkable consistently and the prolific nature of their excellent output. In 2006, drummer David Silveria left the band, and he was replaced in 2008 by Ray Luzier.

In 2007 they released their MTV Unplugged live album, earning a great deal of praise.

Among their best-known singles across this period are their hits Here to Stay, Make Me Bad, Thoughtless, Did My Time and Right Now. In 2022 the group released their fourteenth studio album, Requiem, which was once again a big commercial and critical hit.

Korn have been cited by many bands and artists as a major influence, including Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Machine Head and Sepultura. The group has sold over forty million records over the course of a hugely successful career to date and they have won a host of awards.
