Liverpool vs. Nottingham Forest History

These two teams know each other well though a league meeting between the two did not occur between 1999 to 2022, during which Nottingham Forest were spending an extended spell outside the Premier League.

Among those who have represented both clubs is Nigel Clough, son of legendary manager Brian. The former Forest forward played over 400 times for Forest before completing a big-money move to Liverpool in 1993, but it would be fair to say that he never really settled on Merseyside.

In April 2023, Steve Cooper’s men came close to ending that drought with Neco Williams, a former Liverpool player, and Morgan Gibbs-White scoring to leave the two sides level at two apiece before Mohamed Salah bagged the winner after seventy minutes of an engrossing contest.
