AC/DC toured consistently throughout the late 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, but their live appearances are now certainly less frequent than in their pomp, which is to be expected. That means that any AC/DC concerts that are scheduled become events that truly can not be missed.
That's because the chance to see a band of their magnitude play their classics and hidden gems is something a true rock fan can not pass up. Our site makes it easier for AC/DC fans to make sure they are then when their heroes are back on stage, living it up.
AC/DC were formed in 1973 by brothers Malcolm Young and Angus Young in Sydney, Australia, and their first international release came in 1976 with High Voltage, a record that sold over three million copies in the United States alone and was an international success. The band's classic early lineup also included Paul Rudd on drums and Cliff Williams on bass.
1979's Highway to Hell further rose the band into the mainstream, and the album proved to be a mega-hit in the US, where it sold seven million copies. That would be the last album that featured Bon Scott on lead vocals as he tragically passed away soon after its release.
In 1980, AC/DC followed up with Back in Black, a now genre-defining album that is regularly voted as among the best ever released in the history of rock music. It has gone on to sell over 50 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time. Brian Johnson was ushered in as the singer from this point onwards.
The album spawned a number of hit singles, including You Shook Me All Night Long, Hells Bells and the title track, Back in Black. The next album, For Those About to Rock We Salute You, gave AC/DC their first US number-one album and showed the band had remarkable consistency in the field.
In the late 1980s, Chris Slade replaced Rudd as the band's drummer, and Stevie Young would go on to become a key touring member of the band.
1995's Ballbreaker shot AC/DC back to the top of the UK charts and also sold millions of copies in the US, showing that the band continued to prove popular with each and every release. In 2020, AC/DC released their 17th studio album, Power Up, going to number one around the world, including at the top of the US Billboard charts yet again.
The critical acclaim it received was further proof of AC/DC's talents; the record even picked up a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album. The band continue to win over fans and their concerts are now populated by a mix of generations, from those who have followed the band's cannons for decades and newer fans who are only now getting to grips with the band's brilliance.
