About F1 Canada Tickets 2023/24

F1 Canada History

The first F1 race to take place in Canada came in 1967 at the Mosport Park circuit in Ontario, and this venue alternated with the Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, race track for the initial run of races in the country.

The Canadian Grand Prix moved to the Île Notre-Dame Circuit in Montreal in 1978, and that race was won by a local hero in the form of Gilles Villeneuve, and the circuit was renamed in his honour after he tragically died in qualifying ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix in 1982.

Popular World Champions Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton have won this event on seven occasions each, some way ahead of the next most successful driver at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Brazilian Nelson Piquet.

The track has also been used for other motorsport events, including NASCAR and the World Sportscar Championship.
