About Valencia CF Football Tickets

Established in 1919, Valencia Club de Fútbol played its first match against a local team Valencia Gimnástico, two months after it was officially registered, starting spring of 1919. However, they lost the game. The sobering defeat was avenged the following day against the same opponent and signalled that this is not a club that backs away from a challenge.

In 1923, Mestalla became the club's official residence and still is the home ground after the construction of a new venue got stopped due to financial constraints.

Judging from the results in the first half of the 20th century, the team was not showing much promise. But all that changed after the Spanish Civil War ended. The team brought the first league title home in the 1941–42 season, reclaiming the crown in 1943–44 and the 1946–47 seasons. Parallel to the success in the league, Valencia won Copa del Rey titles in 1941 and the 1948–49 season. The 1950s and 1960s were competitive but mostly uneventful decades. After the La Liga title in the 1970–71 season, a period of stagnation set in with the 1980s and 1990s, producing mediocre performance.

Spectacular results in the first decade of the new century broke the lethargy. However, after five seasons of being on top in Spain and Europe, the club retreated to its previous state. New debt issues did not help the situation. Valencia CF bounced back with frequent expeditions in European competitions, occasionally contesting the dominance of the two titans of Spanish football.

Valencia CF is not the oldest team in the city whose name the club bears, as the honour belongs to Levante UD. Description: Mestalla Stadium opened its gates in 1923 and gradually expanded its capacity from the initial 17,000 seats to 25,000 before the Spanish Civil War. After a prolonged renovation finished in 1955, the capacity climbed to 60,000 but is currently set at 49,430 seats. The venues hosted games from the 1982 World Cup and are regularly used for live events. Plans for a new ultra-modern stadium with a capacity of 60,000 spectators are on hold due to budgetary concerns.

Best Way to Travel

Mestalla Stadium is located east of Valencia's historic city centre, a half an hour's walk from the cathedral or Estación del Norte railway station. There is a modern public transit network in the city. And if you don't have tickets, you can arrive at the stadium ticket offices during opening hours.

By Metro

The metro provides fast and reliable transportation to the stadium. Take Lines 5 or 7 at the stop at Aragón station. Alternatively, Lines 3 and 9 can bring you to Facultats station. Both stations are near the venue.
