About Germany Tickets 2023/24

With four FIFA World Cup crowns to their name, as well as three UEFA European Championships under their belt, the German national football team can rightly be considered historically one of the best ever.

FIFA World Cup History

Germany have qualified for every FIFA World Cup that they have entered and almost always cruise through to the latter stages of the competition.

First World Cup Win

Their first World Cup crown came in 1954 when they overcame the mighty Magyars Hungary in a thrilling final in Bern, coming from two goals down to win 3-2.

Their next title came in 1974, on home soil with Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Muller playing key roles, and came after a final defeat in 1966 to England and a third-place finish in Mexico in 1970.

In 1982 and 1986, they were losing finalists, defeated by Italy and Argentina in the respective finals.

Italia 90

Redemption wasn't far behind, with their 1990 side winning the World Cup in Italy, with Andreas Brehme scoring the only goal of the final against Argentina.

Beating the Boys from Brazil

In 2002 they were defeated by Ronaldo and Brazil in the final, and they finished in third place in both 2006 and 2010 before romping to success in 2014 in Brazil, with the likes of Thomas Muller, Miroslav Klose, and Manuel Neuer proving pivotal.

It was in this tournament that they famously annihilated Brazil 7-1 in the semi-final.

More recently, Germany have flopped in a big way, failing to qualify from the group stage in either Russia or Qatar.

European Championship History

In the UEFA European Championships, Germany have achieved a similar level of success, winning the tournament in 1972 and 1980.

In 1992 they surprisingly lost the final to Denmark but secured a win in England in 1996 with Oliver Bierhoff scoring a golden goal winner against the Czech Republic.

Die Mannschaft were runners-up in 2008 and semi-finalists in both 2012 and 2016, but disappointed their fans with a last-16 exit to England at Euro 2020.

As hosts of the UEFA Euro 2024 finals, Germany weren't required to qualify for the quadrennial event.

Germany National Football Team - Home Stadium

Germany play their national football team matches in a variety of stadiums, with games taking place commonly in Berlin, Munich, and Dortmund.

The Olympiastadion has a capacity of 70,000 and it was chosen to host the UEFA Euro 2024 final. The Allianz Arena and Westfalenstadion venues, respective homes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, can each accommodate around 65,000 spectators.
