Christopher Maurice Brown, aka Chris Brown, was born in May 1989 in Tappahannock, Virginia and learned to sing and dance very early in his childhood. He has cited Michael Jackson as a key influence and he then began to perform at the church choir, where he honed his talents.

In 2005, he released his self-titled debut album, through Jive Records, and it reached number two on the US Billboard charts and sold over two million copies in the United States alone while also charting well in the UK and across Europe.
