Cody Daniel Johnson was born in Sebastopol, Texas in May 1987 and began playing music at 12 years of age. He performed at the local church, honing his skills while also riding bulls at local rodeos.

The Cody Johnson Band

In 2006, he formed the Cody Johnson Band, which featured his dad, and they recorded their first album in the same year.

Live and Rocking (2007), Six Strings One Dream (2009) and A Different Day (2011) followed before a genuine breakthrough came with the release of his fifth studio album, Cowboy Like Me.

Breakthrough

That 2014 release not only broke into the US Country Music top ten but also soared on the mainstream Billboard Album charts.

Ain't Nothin' To It

Gotta Be Me showed yet more progress, and 2019's Ain't Nothin' to It earned Cody Johnson his first US Country Music number-one. That album included a string of successful singles, including, On My Way to You, Nothin' on You and Dear Rodeo (on which Reba McEntire delivered an awesome performance).

Human: The Double Album

Human: The Double Album (2021) was well received by critics and fans, and in 2023, Cody Johnson's ninth studio album, Leather, proved yet another commercial success.
