About 1. FC Union Berlin Tickets 2026/27

  1. FC Union Berlin bring one of German football's most distinctive matchday atmospheres to the Köpenick district of southeast Berlin, and 1. FC Union Berlin tickets reflect that reputation: a club built on standing terraces, member culture, and a fiercely loyal fanbase rather than any inherited footballing pedigree.

The Stadion An der Alten Försterei, tucked into woodland on the city's eastern edge, has become one of the most sought-after away days in the Bundesliga for exactly that reason.

  1. FC Union Berlin match tickets are prized as much for the setting as the football itself, with visiting supporters routinely describing a trip to Köpenick as among the most authentic in German football. Fans looking to buy 1. FC Union Berlin tickets are typically chasing that experience: a compact, steeply raked ground where the singing rarely stops and the club's community-driven identity is on full display.

1. FC Union Berlin History

The club's roots trace back to 1906 through predecessor side FC Olympia Oberschöneweide, though the modern 1. FC Union Berlin was founded in 1966 during East Germany's football reorganisation. Union spent decades shuttling around the lower reaches of German football, building a reputation as a working-class, member-driven club long before results caught up with that identity.

Promotion to the Bundesliga finally arrived in 2019 via the relegation play-off, and Union's rise since has been remarkable: from top-flight newcomer to Champions League qualifier in just four seasons, finishing fourth in the 2022/23 Bundesliga to reach Europe's premier competition for the first time in the club's history. Union have remained fixtures in the Bundesliga ever since, backed by one of the loudest and most committed fanbases in the country.

1. FC Union Berlin Rivalries

Union's most heated rivalry is the Berliner Stadtderby against Hertha BSC, a fixture with added edge given the two clubs' contrasting identities and Berlin's old East-West divide; FC Union Berlin vs Hertha Berlin tickets cover the capital's biggest derby whenever the two sides meet. As a club with East German roots, Union also carries a natural affinity, and occasional needle, with other former DDR-Oberliga sides.

Beyond the capital derby, visits from Bayern Munich rank among the biggest dates on Union's calendar, with FC Union Berlin vs Bayern Munich tickets consistently among the club's most in-demand match tickets each season.

Stadion An der Alten Försterei Stadium Guide

Tucked into woodland in the Köpenick district of southeast Berlin, the Stadion An der Alten Försterei is one of German football's most distinctive grounds, with standing terraces making up the vast majority of its capacity. The stadium has been Union's home since 1920, expanded over the decades in part through volunteer labour from the club's own fans.

  • Waldseite — the legendary standing terrace on the north side, home to Union's most vocal supporters and the source of the ground's famous atmosphere
  • Gegengerade — a further standing terrace opposite, offering a good view of play with a livelier, mixed crowd
  • Haupttribüne — the seated main stand on the west side, housing the press box, VIP areas and the best overall sightlines
  • Wuhleseite — a mixed seating and standing section to the south, also home to the away supporters' block

Fans planning a visit can check the Stadion An der Alten Försterei seating plan before choosing where to sit.

1. FC Union Berlin Away Tickets

Because the Alte Försterei sets aside just a single travelling block on the Wuhleseite, allocations for visiting supporters are tightly capped no matter who's in town, a scarcity that's become part of the ground's identity rather than an afterthought. Union's own travelling support has swelled alongside the club's rise up the table, and 1. FC Union Berlin away tickets for the Hertha Berlin derby or a trip to Munich or Dortmund tend to disappear within hours of going on sale, given how many Eisernen now follow the team on the road.

1. FC Union Berlin Cup Tickets

Union's cup pedigree actually predates their Bundesliga era: an FDGB-Pokal win back in 1968, while the club still competed in the East German league system, brought Union their first taste of European football decades before promotion to the Bundesliga. 1. FC Union Berlin DFB-Pokal tickets now cover the modern competition, with the Alte Försterei regularly producing the kind of atmosphere that makes a DFB-Pokal night in Köpenick worth catching even for neutrals.

1. FC Union Berlin Ticket Prices

With standing terraces making up most of the Alte Försterei's capacity, 1. FC Union Berlin tickets sit toward the more affordable end of the Bundesliga's pricing spectrum for the majority of fixtures — a deliberate stance from a club that has resisted the shift toward all-seater, premium-heavy grounds seen elsewhere in Germany. Seated tickets in the Haupttribüne carry a noticeable premium over standing spots in the other three stands, and that gap widens further for visits from Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund. Cross-checking against the wider Bundesliga tickets market is a useful way to gauge whether a specific Union fixture represents good value before booking.
