History of Etihad Stadium

Formerly known as the City of Manchester Stadium, this ground has been the home of Manchester City FC since 2003. The venue was renamed to the Etihad Stadium in 2011, following the takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group three years prior.

The Etihad Stadium has a 53,400 capacity, making it the sixth-largest Premier League stadium. Across the United Kingdom, only 10 football grounds have a greater capacity than the Etihad Stadium.

The Etihad Campus, which is just a short walk from Manchester city centre, is home to a range of state-of-the-art facilities including training grounds, gyms and accommodation suites.

The largest stand at the Etihad Stadium is the West Stand, which can hold around 13,500 spectators.

The Colin Bell Stand sits on the east side of the venue. Named in honour of ex-Manchester City player Colin Bell, this section contains an estimated 10,400 seats.

In 2021, MCFC unveiled statues of club legends Vincent Kompany & David Silva outside the Etihad Stadium and the following year a statue was installed in commemoration of club record goalscorer Sergio Agüero. All three former players were integral in Man City's maiden Premier League title-winning campaign in 2011/12.
