Carolina Giraldo Navarro was born in Medellin, Colombia, in February 1991. At the age of 14, she performed on El Factor X. She then took to YouTube to post covers of tracks by Alicia Keys, Justin Bieber, and Lauryn Hill in the hopes of gaining exposure. This tactic paid off.

Turning to an alias, Karol G, she signed Flamingo Records before moving to Universal. She truly hit the mainstream with the release of her debut solo album, Unstoppable, which came out in 2017 and broke onto the charts in Spain and the United States.

The album spawned a string of singles, including Casi Nada, Hello (with Ozuna), A Ella and Ahora Me Llama (with Bad Bunny). In 2019, her second studio album, Ocean, saw her grow steadily in stature and in 2021, her third album, KG0516, topped the US Latin Charts and was a hit across Europe.

Singles from Ocean include Punto G, Ocean, Mi Cama (with Nicky Jam), Love With a Quality (featuring Damian Marley), Dices Que Ta Vas and La Vida Continuo. Meanwhile, KG0516 saw the hit Tusa (with Nicki Minaj) take her stardom to a new stratosphere. This came after the success that was China (with Daddy Yankee and J Balvin, among others).

In 2023, Karol G released her fourth studio album, Mañana Será Bonito, which soared to number one on the US Billboard mainstream charts. She also earned success with the singles Provenza, Gatubela (with Maldy), Cairo and TQG (with fellow Colombian superstar Shakira).

Though very much at the beginning of a stunning music career, Karol G has already achieved a great deal and among her many accolades is her maiden Grammy Award win, secured in 2024 for Best Musica Urbana Album. She has also won a host of Latin Grammy Awards and Billboard Music Awards. She has also picked up MTV Europe Music Awards in 2020 and 2023.
