Peso Pluma Biography

Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija was born in 1999 in Jalisco, Mexico and he grew up in Guadalajara and started to master the guitar from the age of 15. Opting for the stage name of Peso Pluma, he used songwriting as a form of therapy and quickly gained a following. In 2020, he released his first studio album, titled Ah y Que?

The release of Por Las Noches helped to secure exposure, with the song breaking into the US Billboard singles chart and rising to number five in his native Mexico. His second studio album, Efectos Secundarios, garnered glowing reviews, and in 2022, Peso Pluma worked with a number of artists to release a swathe of successful tracks.

Ella Baila Sola, featuring Eslabon Armado, was a massive success, reaching number four on the US Billboard charts, and his subsequent releases, La Bebe (with Yng Lvcas) and Chanel (with Becky G), also charted well.

In June 2023, Peso Pluma released his third studio album, and Genesis firmly put him on the mainstream map, with the record reaching number three on the US Billboard Albums charts. It went on to sell over a million copies in the US and was well received globally.

In 2024, Peso Pluma was nominated for his first Grammy award, and this is very much evidence of the upward trajectory his career is heading in.
