Fontaines D.C. History

The members of the Fontaines met while at music college in Dublin, Ireland. Band members Carlos O'Connell, Conor Curley, Conor Deegan III, Grian Chatten and Tom Coll got the name for their musical venture from The Godfather, deriving their moniker from the character Johnny Fontaine.

Dogrel

They initially released their own material in 2015 before they were signed by Partisan Records. They released their debut studio album, Dogrel, in 2019, and it proved hugely successful. It charted in the top ten in their native Ireland and also sold well across Europe and the UK.

Among the singles released from their debut effort were Too Real, Big, Roy's Tune and Boys in the Better Land.

A Hero's Death

The post-punk group released their second album, A Hero's Death, in 2020 and this proved an even bigger smash, reaching number two on the UK Albums charts as well as making waves in the United States.

The album's title track, I Don't Belong and A Lucid Dream, performed well and are regularly used in the band's current setlist. They didn't have to wait too much longer for their first Irish number-one album, with their third LP, Skinty Fia, hitting that mark in 2022. It also topped the charts in the Netherlands and was a top ten success in France, Belgium, Germany and the UK, showing their increasing popularity.

2024 saw the band put out their fourth album, Romance, which was supported by a lengthy tour, helping more fans see the guys play their music to much bigger crowds, not just in Europe but also in the United States, where they are fast becoming a phenomenon.

2024 also led to the band's best-performing single to date, with Starburster soaring across Europe.
