Kara's Flowers

Adam Levine, Ryan Dusick, and Adam Salzman were then joined by Jesse Carmichael and Mickey Madden in the band's early incarnation as Kara's Flowers.

Maroon 5 added guitarist James Valentine in 2001, and the band released their debut album, Songs About Jane, in 2002, which was an instant hit. The album, released on J Records and Octane Records, topped the charts in the UK, France, New Zealand, and Australia and was a top ten hit on the Billboard 200.

This Love

It has gone on to sell five million copies in the United States, and the success was buoyed by the release of the global hit single This Love, the music video for which was directed by Sophie Muller and was a big MTV hit and the album also included the very successful track, She Will Be Loved.

In 2005 the band won their first Grammy Award for Best New Artist and now has three Grammy Awards to their name.

It took five years for the band to release their second album and It Won't Be Soon Before Long, which achieve very good album sales and topped the US charts.

The album included the band's latest hit single, their first number-one in the US, Make Me Wonder, and firmly established the standing of the band and, in particular, their lead singer Adam Levine.

2011's Moves Like Jagger, featuring Christina Aguilera, may well be Maroon 5's most recognizable hit, and the track accumulated a staggering amount of airplay and sold upwards of 10 million copies in the US, and achieved Diamond status.

Sugar

Hands All Over and Overexposed were moderate successes, and 2014's V, another number-one album, put them back to the top of the US album charts, and 2015 single Sugar is Maroon 5's most-watched video on YouTube, racking up over 3.5 billion views to date.

Girls Like You

2017 album Red Pill Blues featured Girls Like You, which Maroon 5 recorded with Cardi B and was another number-one hit for the band and was number one for seven consecutive weeks, and the band's hit from the highly acclaimed album.

Beautiful Mistakes

One of the band's recent hits came in the form of Beautiful Mistakes, featuring Megan Thee Stallion, and featured on Maroon 5's 2021 studio album Jordi, which earned gold status in the US.

Other hits include One More Night, Nobody's Love, and Payphone.
