Trevor George Smith, aka Busta Rhymes, of Jamaican heritage, was born in May 1972 in New York City. In 1986, he teamed up with Charlie Brown, Cut Monitor Milo, and Dinco D to form the Leaders of the New School, an East Coast hip-hop group out of Long Island.
The group released two albums, A Future Without a Past in 1991 and T.I.M.E in 1993, before Busta Rhymes opted to go solo.
In 1996, he signed to Elektra Records, and his debut solo album, The Coming, was released. It proved a big success, selling over a million copies in the United States alone. The album included the singles Woo-Hah!! Got Your All in Check, and It's a Party.
When Disaster Strikes followed in 1997, earning Busta Rhymes another million-selling US album; singles from the album included the successful tracks Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See and Dangerous.
He also released Turn It Up, which earned him another top-ten singles hit. 1998 saw the release of Extinction Level Event: The Final World Front, another huge commercial success for the talented performer.
That album included the single What's It Gonna Be, which saw Busta Rhymes teaming up with Janet Jackson on a hugely successful single.
Anarchy (2000), Genesis (2001), and It Ain't Safe No More (2002) further cemented his standing on the rap scene before his 2006 album, The Big Bang, earned him his first ever Us Billboard number-one album.
That was Busta Rhymes's seventh studio album, more than illustrating his staying power in a notoriously fickle market.
Over the course of his storied career, Busta Rhymes has performed with some of the biggest stars in music. These have included tracks with Sean Paul, Mariah Carey (with their I Know What You Want being a smash hit), Nicki Minaj, Notorious B.I.G, Jay-Z, LL Cool J and Method Man.
Back on My B.S came out in 2009, and was followed by Year of the Dragon (2012), Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God (2020) and Blockbusta (2023).
Busta Rhymes, now a veteran on the circuit, has sold millions of records over the course of his incredibly successful music career. He has earned a great many accolades over this period and has also branched out into the acting world, appearing in a number of TV shows and films, including Finding Forrester, Shaft and Breaking Point.
He is very much considered a trendsetter and a touchstone in music and a number of huge artists cite Busta Rhymes as a major influence, these include the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Big Daddy Kane and Tyler, the Creator.
The level of interest and demand for Busta Rhymes tickets is an indication of just how popular he remains and his latest tour looks like being among his biggest to date. This is why it's important to take advantage of the ticketing offers available at SeatPick speedily so as to avoid the possibility of missing out on what promises to be one hell of a show.
