Muse History

Muse were formed in 1994, and after building a massive fanbase on the road, they released their debut album in 1999, with Showbiz proving a moderate hit in the UK. Their next album, Origin of Symmetry, put them on the map. That album was an interesting mix, with classical music influences playing a part, and it is still considered perhaps the best of the band's studio albums.

That album broke into the top three in the UK Album charts, did well across Europe, and started to show the band making an impact in the United States.

Absolution, Muse's third album, saw the band score their first UK number-one album and led to the group becoming one of the best live bands around, with their accompanying tour proving a big success.

Their fourth studio album, Black Holes and Revelations sold over a million copies in the US alone and saw a string of successful singles, including Supermassive Black Hole and Knights of Cydonia.

2009's The Resistance was another huge success, getting to number one in the UK and number three in the US and selling millions of copies. It also saw Muse win the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.

In 2022, Muse released their ninth studio album, with Will of the People reaching number one in the UK, France, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Austria, Australia, and Switzerland. It also got to number 15 on the US Billboard charts. It was their first new album in four years and did well in multiple territories and continued to express the band's unique style.

The band has gone on to sell over 30 million records worldwide and has won numerous music awards, including the American Music Award for Favourite Alternative Artist in 2010, two Grammy Awards, a slew of MTV Europe Music Awards, eight NME Awards, and two Brit Awards.
