This is considered among the most significant events in the English football calendar, though when these teams met for the first time back in 1894 nobody knew just how rivalrous this fixture would become.

The tensions between Liverpool and Manchester United stretch far beyond the football pitch as there is a long-standing feud between these two English cities in question.

Liverpool ran out 7-1 winners at Anfield when the teams first met in a league fixture in the 1895/96 Second Division, with Man United still known as Newton Heath at the time.
