Kings of Leon History

Formed in Nashville in the late 1990s, the Kings of Leon are made up of four members of the same family, the Followills.

Brothers Caleb (lead vocals and guitar), Nathan (drums), and Jared (bass guitar) were joined by cousin Matthew (lead guitar), and the rock band have not looked back since.

After a great deal of touring, they got noticed and signed with RCA, and their debut album proved a big hit, especially in the UK.

Youth And Young Manhood

Youth and Young Manhood was released in 2003 and broke into the top ten in the UK Album charts and put the band on the rock music map.

2005 saw the band release their second album, Aha Shake Heartbreak which fared better in the United States and was a critical success.

Because Of The Times

Their third album, Because of the Times, saw the Kings of Leon score their first UK number-one album, but it would be their next record that truly elevated the band's standing on the music scene.

Only By The Night

In 2008, Only by the Night was released and has gone on to sell over ten million copies, with over two million of those coming in the United States.

Sex On Fire

The band's most successful single to date, and now a live anthem, Sex on Fire, appeared on the album and went to number one in the UK, selling over three million copies.

The next single, Use Somebody, is the most successful song they have released in the US to date, reaching number four on the Billboard singles chart.

Come Around Sundown And Beyond

Their next album, Come Around Sundown, was another smash hit, and indeed, every album the band has released has proven a success in a number of territories, and the band's sound is one that has attracted a great many of their live shows.

Kings of Leon Tour Dates

With every tour the Kings of Leon have undertaken, the level of interest and the size of venues they are filling has increased.

Their Come Around Sundown World Tour in 2010/2011 included 92 shows across five continents and saw the band play to a massive audience.

In 2014/2015, the band's Mechanical Bull tour was similarly extensive and successful.
