The Coral History

The Coral were formed in 1996 in the basement of a pub in Hoylake and were originally named Hive before opting for their current title. The group released their self-titled debut album in 2002 and it proved a big hit.

As well as breaking into the top five of the UK Charts, it also sold well across Europe and the US and earned rave reviews. It contained two big singles, Goodbye and Dreaming of You, both of which broke into the top 40 in the UK.

Just a year later, their second album, Magic and Medicine, hit the top spot on the UK Albums chart and firmly cemented their position as one of the leading rock bands on the circuit. That album featured the singles Pass It On, Secret Kiss and Don't Think You're the First.

The incredibly prolific band had another album out, their third, barely six months later, and Nightfreak and the Sons of Becker was another commercial and critical hit. Their fourth album, The Invisible Invasion, is considered among the band's finest efforts and includes their massively successful single, In The Morning.

In 2007 they toured with The Arctic Monkeys and continued to draw in big crowds who were enchanted by the guitar-led sound and they have consistently released great output ever since. In 2023 they released their eleventh studio album, Sea of Mirrors, which secured a top three spot on the UK Charts and this has led to new tour dates, all of which have been well received and full to the rafters.

As well as producing new albums at an alarming rate, member of the band have opted to also release material on their own. Ian Skelly released his first album as a solo artist in 2021, and lead singer James Skelly did likewise in 2013 as part of a side project called The Intenders.

Needless to say it's as a collective that The Coral thrive and hence the huge interest from fans eager to see them perform live and in person.
