Raye Biography

Rachel Agatha Keen was born in October 1997 in London and as a young child she sang in a gospel choir. At the age of 14, she studied at the prestigious BRIT School but dropped out after two years and in December 2014, she released her debut EP, titled Welcome to the Winter.

In 2017, her second single, The Line, broke onto the UK official singles chart, and her third EP, Side Tape, saw both Decline and Cigarette also do the same, helping Raye to establish herself as a pop and R&B performer.

As a songwriter, she has also written tracks for a slew of big stars, including Beyonce, Zara Larsson and Ellie Goulding. In 2020 her single Secrets, with Regard, gave Raye her first top ten UK single and in 2021 Bed, with Joel Corry & David Guetta, got to number three and also performed well globally.

In 2022 her track Escapism went to number one in the UK and charted well on the US Billboard Singles chart and the release of Raye's debut album, My 21st Century Blues, in February 2023, elevated her further.

The album was incredibly well received, picking up an AIM Independent Music Awards nomination for Best Independent Album.

In 2023 she performed a series of massive shows including on the festival scene when at Glastonbury she put on a superb set, alongside summer performances that were secured glowing reviews and at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where she performed with an incredible gospel choir.
