There aren't many nations more unlucky than the Netherlands when it comes to the FIFA World Cup. The Dutch have come agonisingly close to clinching the trophy on multiple occasions, losing in the World Cup Final no fewer than three times.

More recently, Holland suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Spain in the 2010 World Cup Final. Held at Soccer City Stadium in South Africa, the game ended goalless after 90 minutes after which extra-time was required to decide a winner. With a penalty shootout approaching, Andres Iniesta netted the winner in the 116th minute to once again deny Ons Oranje their dream of hoisting aloft the World Cup.
