Competing nations are limited to using their under-23 squads, although up to three overage players may be included in the official rosters.

The Men's tournament sees 16 teams take part in the finals tournament, while the Women's tournament comprises of just 12 nations. Both tournaments begin with the group stage, followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finally the gold medal match.

The Women's group stage sees three groups of four teams. The top two nations in each group will advance to the knockouts together with the two best third-placed teams. In the Men's group stage there are four groups of four teams, with the top two teams progressing to the quarter-finals.

The Men's gold medal match is scheduled for 9 August 2024 at the Parc des Princes.

The Women's gold medal match will take place the following day, also at the Parc des Princes.
