Como FC History

The team was founded in 1907, as Como Foot-Ball Club, though only in the 1949/50 season did the Biancoblù play in Serie A for the first time.

Como FC have mostly struggled to remain a regular presence in the top flight. The 1980s saw Como enjoy seven seasons in Serie A, though they spent the entirety of the 90s outside of the top division.

The club was declared bankrupt in December 2004 following financial difficulties and successive relegations. The following year the club was re-founded as Calcio Como, however new financial problems emerged during the 2016/17 season, forcing Como to be declared bankrupt again and put up for auction. The club was re-founded in 2017, now called Como 1907.

Como FC was purchased by billionaire businessmen the Hartono brothers in 2019, making them the wealthiest owners in Italian football. Former international footballers Thierry Henry & Cesc Fàbregas were also named as minority shareholders.

The club's main rivals are Calcio Lecco, Varese, and Monza – all based in the Lombardy region.

Como FC Players

Going back a few years, rising star Marco Tardelli spent the 1974/75 season with Como FC before going on to enjoy a 10-year stint with Juventus. Tardelli would later take up the role of Como manager from 1993-95.

More recently, after Como secured promotion to Serie A at the end of the 2023/24 season, Cesc Fàbregas was confirmed as the club's new head coach on a four year-contract. This saw a number of household names join the Italian outfit.

Italy striker Andrea Belotti and former Spain internationals Pepe Reina & Alberto Moreno all put pen to paper with Como FC, while ex-France defender and World Cup winner Raphaël Varane joined on a free transfer from Manchester United.

Como FC Stadium

Home games of Como FC take place at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia. The venue first opened in 1927 and it has undergone several renovations over the years. The ground's capacity was 18,000 when Como played in the 2002/03 Serie A season, though in more recent years it was reduced to around 7,798.

Following their promotion to the top flight in 2024, Como FC set out to increase the stadium capacity in order to comply with Serie A regulations.

Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia is just a 6-minute walk from the westernmost point of Lake Como.
