St Mary's Stadium Facilities

The Itchen Stand is on the east side of the stadium, facing the River Itchen. This is the main stand with approximately 8,000 seats and it is primarily where hospitality seats and the Directors' Box are situated.

Running along the west side of the pitch is the Kingsland Stand which can accommodate around 7,710 people.

The Chapel Stand is stood behind the goal on the south end, and the Northam Stand is behind the other goal. The Northam Stand is where you'll generally find the more vocal Southampton supporters on matchday.

Away fans used to be seated in the Northam Stand until the start of the 2023/24 season when they were relocated to the corner of the Kingsland and Chapel stands.

Outside the St Mary's Stadium is a statue of club legend Ted Bates, who served as a player, manager, director and later president of Southampton FC. The sculpture was re-unveiled in March 2008, outside the Itchen Stand near the main entrance to the stadium.

Popular Events at St Mary's Stadium

Many Southampton FC supporters will agree that their team's most important fixture would be the South Coast derby, against arch-rivals Portsmouth FC. These clubs haven't contested a Premier League fixture since 2005, though you'll be able to buy tickets whenever they next go head-to-head.

AFC Bournemouth are also considered to be local rivals of Southampton, with the two clubs separated by just 30 miles. Although not as intense as their matchups versus Portsmouth, Saints fans still relish meetings with the Cherries. Also based on the south coast are Brighton & Hove Albion, though matches between the teams aren't considered as fierce compared to clashes with Portsmouth or Bournemouth.

Premier League games against the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United generally attract plenty of interest from Southampton fans.

St Mary's Stadium has also previously hosted international friendlies as well as music events; The Rolling Stones, The Killers, and Take That are just a few high-profile acts to have performed at the venue.
