About 1. FSV Mainz 05 Tickets 2026/27

FSV Mainz 05 tickets bring fans to one of the most characterful grounds in the Bundesliga, the MEWA Arena in the Rhineland-Palatinate wine region. Known across Germany as the self-proclaimed "Karnevalsverein" of professional football, Mainz combine a genuinely festive matchday culture with a squad that punches well above the city's modest size. Fans can buy 1. FSV Mainz 05 tickets confident they're getting a full matchday experience without the inflated costs common at Germany's biggest clubs.

Fans of FSV Mainz 05 take real pride in being one of the few Bundesliga clubs to serve local wine alongside beer on matchday, a quirk of the surrounding Rheinhessen region that sums up the club's identity. Anyone tracking 1. FSV Mainz 05 events at the MEWA Arena will find a calendar that regularly mixes routine league Saturdays with genuine European nights.

1. FSV Mainz 05 History

FSV Mainz 05 were founded in 1905 and spent decades outside the professional game before finally securing Bundesliga status in 2004, a promotion still remembered as one of the most dramatic in the division's modern history. The club's identity was shaped in the years that followed under a string of coaches , including a young Jürgen Klopp, who built Mainz's reputation for high-pressing, counter-attacking football on a fraction of their rivals' budgets.

That approach carried the club to its best-ever Bundesliga finish of sixth in 2024/25, earning a first appearance in the UEFA Conference League, where Mainz reached the quarter-finals before falling to Strasbourg. Fittingly, the man now tasked with building on that run is Urs Fischer, who took charge in December 2025 having previously guided 1. FC Union Berlin to their own historic Champions League qualification — making him one of the few coaches in Germany to have taken two unfashionable clubs to the edge of European football's biggest stages.

1. FSV Mainz 05 Rivalries

Mainz's most significant modern rivalry is with nearby Eintracht Frankfurt, a Rhine-Main derby sharpened by the two clubs' geographic closeness and contrasting recent fortunes; 1. FSV Mainz 05 vs Eintracht Frankfurt tickets are among the most sought-after fixtures on the home calendar. A long-standing historic rivalry with 1. FC Kaiserslautern, forged when both clubs were fixtures of West German football before Mainz's Bundesliga rise, still carries weight even though the two haven't regularly met at the top level in recent years.

Visits from Bayern Munich remain one of the biggest dates at the MEWA Arena regardless of league position, and 1. FSV Mainz 05 vs Bayern Munich tickets consistently rank among the season's most in-demand match tickets, selling out well ahead of kick-off.

MEWA Arena Stadium Guide

The MEWA Arena sits in Mainz's Bretzenheim district, a fully covered bowl known for trapping noise and creating one of the more intense atmospheres in the division despite its modest scale. Uniquely for German football, the arena's concessions include local wine alongside the usual beer and bratwurst, a nod to the surrounding Rheinhessen wine region.

  • Nordtribüne (North) — the standing home curve across blocks P to S, generating the bulk of the ground's noise and home to Mainz's ultras
  • Westtribüne / Haupttribüne (West) — the main stand, housing VIP suites and one of the arena's two family blocks
  • Kömmerling-Tribüne (East) — the stand opposite the main tribune, home to media facilities, the club shop, and further VIP seating
  • Südtribüne (South) — a mixed stand combining a second family block with the away supporters' section

FSV Mainz 05 stadium tickets across all four stands can be checked against the MEWA Arena seating plan before deciding where to sit.

1. FSV Mainz 05 Away Tickets

Visiting supporters at the MEWA Arena are housed on the Südtribüne, in a corner section that shares space with part of Mainz's own family seating on quieter matchdays. Because Mainz's travelling support has historically been modest relative to some Bundesliga rivals, 1. FSV Mainz 05 away tickets for fixtures elsewhere tend to be easier to come by than at clubs with larger followings on the road — though that changes sharply for the Frankfurt derby or a trip to Munich.

1. FSV Mainz 05 Cup Tickets

Mainz have rarely gone deep into a modern DFB-Pokal campaign, with second-round exits a recurring theme in recent seasons, but the club's growing European pedigree has raised expectations that a longer domestic cup run could follow. 1. FSV Mainz 05 DFB-Pokal tickets cover the club's campaign from its opening tie through to any unexpected progress deeper into the competition.

1. FSV Mainz 05 Ticket Prices

FSV Mainz 05 game tickets are priced to reflect the club's identity as a community-rooted, mid-table regular rather than a box-office draw, with standing sections on the Nordtribüne among the cheapest entry points in the Bundesliga. For fans prioritising value, 1. FSV Mainz 05 tickets remain some of the most reasonably priced in the top flight outside of relegation-threatened clubs, though costs climb sharply for visits from Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt. Comparing prices against other league tickets listings, including the wider Bundesliga tickets market, is a sensible way to judge value before a popular date sells out.
