Kasabian History

Kasabian were formed in Leicester in 1997 and they released their self-titled debut album in 2004 to much praise. The original lineup of the group included Tom Meighan as lead vocalist, guitarist Sergio Pizzorno, drummer Christopher Karloff and bass player Chris Edwards.

Empire

The album charted well across Europe and also did well in the United States. Successful singles from the release include Club Foot, L.S.F (Lost Souls Forever) and Cutt Off. Empire followed in 2006 and earned the band their first UK number one and sold almost a million copies in the United Kingdom alone.

Fire

In 2005, Ian Matthews replaced Karloff as the band's permanent drummer. 2009's West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum proved an even bigger smash and earned them a number three UK single with fan favourite Fire, with subsequent singles, Where Did All the Love Go and Underdog, also performing well.

Velociraptor (2011), 48:13 (2014) and For Crying Out Loud (2017) all went to number one in the United Kingdom, proving their huge fanbase in their home country. Lead singer Tom Meighan was fired from the band in 2020, and that led to Serge Pizzorno taking over as lead singer and Tim Carter joined as a new guitarist for the band ahead of their 2022 release, The Alchemist's Euphoria, which was well-received by fans and critics alike.

2024 saw Kasabian secure their seventh UK number-one album, aided by a truly euphoric secret set at Glastonbury's Woodsies stage and a celebratory hometown headliner show at Leicester's Victoria Park and capped a triumphant week for the well-loved band.
