The Red Devils have enjoyed more success in the UEFA Champions League, but have also achieved glory in the Europa League. A club the size of Manchester United have been able to call upon a number of superstars throughout their history in the competition, with many having had an impact on the tournament in some shape or form. The Red Devils do have some history with the tournament, even though they have generally competed in the UEFA Champions League more. The club have lifted the Europa League trophy on one occasion, overcoming Ajax in the final of the 2017/18 competition.
They reached the final on one more occasion, losing to Villarreal on penalties in the 2021/21 edition. In the Europa League, Manchester United have often been eliminated in the earlier stages, such as the 2015/16 edition when they went out to fierce Premier League rivals Liverpool FC.
