Their first UEFA Cup run of note came in 1988/89 when the Spanish side got to the Quarter-Finals before being beaten by VfB Stuttgart.

The club’s first involvement in the UEFA Europa League came in 2014/15; however, they failed to get through the qualifying stages in that season. In 2020/21, they faced Manchester United in the Round of 32, and Imanol Alguacil’s side were thumped at home by the Premier League side.

Goals from Marcus Rashford and Daniel James and two from Bruno Fernades saw Manchester United win 4-0 in Turin after the game was moved due to coronavirus restrictions. They fared better in the second leg, drawing 0-0, but the damage had clearly already been done.
