PSV Eindhoven History in the Europa League
PSV Eindhoven are one of the most famous sides to have emerged from Holland and have achieved glory in both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. Boeren, as they are known amongst their fanbase, are a popular and historic club. While tickets can sometimes be difficuly to obtain, the 36,500 capacity Philips Stadium is the perfect place to witness a Europa League match.
The Dutch giants have had a number of world-class talent play for them over the years, with many of them putting in brilliant performances on the European stage. Men such as Arjen Robben, Mateja Kezman, Dennis Rommedahl and Marc van Bommel are just a few stars to have played for PSV in the recent past, whilst others such as Ronaldo, Ruud Gullit and Ronald Koeman achieved success in the club's iconic red and white colours.
PSV Eindhoven's Top Achievements In the Europa League
PSV Eindhoven have won one Europa League trophy in their history, although the competition was known as the UEFA Cup at that particular moment in time.
PSV lifted the title in the 1977/78 campaign when they beat the likes of FC Barcelona on their way to the title. The club's star players Willy van der Kuijlen, Willy van de Kerkhof and Gerrie Deijkers all played in the two-legged 3-0 final win against French outfit SC Bastia whilst Kees Rijvers was in charge of the club.
