RSC Anderlecht History in the Europa League
RSC Anderlecht have become a mainstay competitor within the Europa League over the years, with the Belgian outfit making an appearance in the continent’s elite club competition more often than not. Known as the Purple and White, the club can also boast the ability to house 22,500 fans at their Lotto Park stadium, which can make for a lively venue when teams travel to the Belgian capital for an away day in continental football.
Anderlecht have had a number of players come through their youth ranks and make a name for themselves playing in the competition, with men such as Romelu Lukaku, Youri Tielemans, Leander Dendoncker and Dennis Praet, whilst men like Vincent Kompany and Samir Nasri have all turned out in more recent memory.

The Purple and White have been ranked as the best club in UEFA’s competitions at one point, having shared the top spot with Juventus in 1986. The Belgian outfit have plenty of history in the Europa League, or old UEFA Cup as it was called, and have managed to put in some extremely strong showings in the past.
Anderlecht have reached the final stages of the tournament a couple of times, and have even managed to lift the trophy on at least one occasion. The Purple and Whites managed to beat Benfica in the 1982/83 edition of the competition, whilst having lost to Tottenham Hotspur in a penalty shoot-out in the following year’s final.
