Fall Out Boy History

Fall Out Boy were formed in 2001 in Chicago by Pete Wentz and Joe Trohman, and they were joined by Patrick Stump and Andy Hurley in the classic lineup that has served the band well for the best part of two decades.

The band's first official album was released in 2003, though Take This to Your Grave didn't chart all that well, and it was their 2005 release, From Under the Cork Tree, that saw the band explode onto the scene, breaking into the top ten on the US Billboard charts. That album went on to sell over two and a half million copies in the United States alone and drew critical acclaim.

In 2007, the band returned with Infinity On High, their first US Billboard number-one album. That album included the hit singles This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race and Thnks fr the Mmmrs. Save Rock and Roll (2013), American Beauty/American Psycho (2015), and Mania (2018) all went to number one in the US and also sold well in the UK and across Europe.

Mania earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album, and they have won countless other awards across their successful history.

In 2023 Fall Out Boy released So Much (for) Stardust performed well in the charts in the US and the UK and did well with critics, and was supported by an extensive tour across 2023 and 2024. That tour included a surprise homecoming show in Chicago that immediately sold out.

Fall Out Boy's eighth studio album has shown that the band not only has staying power but that they are capable of continuing their strong commercial success twenty years on from their emergence on the scene.

The album features charted singles Love from the Other Side, Hold Me Like a Grudge, and Heartbreak Feels So Good and shows a band that is evolving and maturing and, in doing so, have attracted a whole new audience to complement the strong following that has loyally followed every Fall Out Boy set since their inception at the turn of the century.
