Paramore History

Paramore were formed in 2004 by frontwoman Hayley Williams and founding members Josh Farro, Zac Farro, Jeremy Davis and Jason Bynum.

They released their debut album, All We Know is Failing, in 2005, though it failed to make a massive impact. In 2005, they joined the popular Warped Tour, which helped to garner some much-needed exposure.

The follow-up album, Riot, released in 2007, did crack the code and sold over a million copies in the United States alone. It was their most successful album to date.

That record included a run of successful singles, including Misery Business, That's What You Get and Crushcrushcrush. The following year, they provided the track Decode for the Twilight soundtrack, and that was a big hit across the globe. In 2007, Taylor York joined to the band, having previously been in a group with the Farro brothers.

In 2008, they earned their first Grammy Award nomination, which they received for Best New Artist. They would go on to win their inaugural Grammy Award in 2015, winning for Best Rock Song for Ain't It Fun.

Paramore's Brand New Eyes, released in 2009, was their first album to reach the top of the UK album charts and their fourth album, their self-titled effort, then reached the top of the US Billboard Albums chart in 2013.

Across this period, tracks like The Only Exception, Ignorance, Careful, Playing God and Brick by Boring Brick were well received by fans and critics alike.

Their 2014 hit Ain't It Fun was their first to break into the top ten on the US Singles chart and was a UK rock chart success. After a four-year break, Paramore released their fifth studio album, After Laughter, doing well worldwide, becoming a top ten hit in the US, the UK and much of Europe.

This further cemented the band's standing as among the biggest acts of their genre. Hayley Williams continues to be the face of the band and is considered one of the most well-known individuals on the pop-punk and alternative rock scene.
