OneRepublic History

OneRepublic were formed in Colorado Springs in 2002 with lead vocalist Ryan Tedder and lead guitarist Zach Filkins forming an initial band having met in 1996. Drummer Eddie Fisher, bass player Brent Kutzle and Drew Brown, another guitarist, made up an early line-up of what was to become OneRepublic.

The group worked for over two years putting together their debut album, only to then be unceremoniously dropped by Columbia Records. This did not set the band back, not least because they were the most popular unsigned band on MySpace.

Instead, they signed with Mosely Music Group, owned by Timbaland, who helped produce their blockbuster hit, Apologize.

Dreaming Out Loud

The group released their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud, in 2007, and it proved an astonishing hit, selling over one million copies in the United States alone.

Apologize

The lead single Apologize was a global sensation, reaching number two on the US Billboard Singles chart and going to number one in a number of territories, including Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

This was followed by another big hit single, Stop and Stare and the band had officially made it into the mainstream. The band's sophomore album, 2009's Waking Up, also charted well and spawned a string of hit singles, including All the Right Moves, Secrets, Marchin' On and Good Life. That year, they also worked with Leona Lewis on her track Lost Then Found.

Native

The group's third studio album, 2013's Native, broke into the top ten around the world and proved that One Republic had staying power. The certified platinum album Native includes more hit singles, with If I Lose Myself, Counting Stars, Something I Need, Love Runs Out, and I Lived, all performing well commercially.

By 2012, the lineup had adjusted and still included founding members Ryan Tedder, Zach Filkins, and Drew Brown and along with Eddie Fisher and Brent Kutzle came Brian Willett, who took on keyboard duties.

Artificial Paradise

The band released a fourth full-length album in 2016, and Oh My My was once again a commercial and critical hit. A five-year hiatus followed before OneRepublic released Human in 2021. OneRepublic's latest album, 2024's Artificial Paradise, received rave reviews and included smash hit, I Ain't Worried, as well as I Don't Wanna Wait (with David Guetta) and Nobody.

They released a festive track, Dear Santa, in 2023 and then provided the Official song for the UEFA Euro 2024 finals, Fire, which performed well globally.

As a live act, OneRepublic always delivers the goods, and they went on their first headlining tour in 2008/09. Their Native Tour, which ran from 2013 to 2015, saw the band play an astonishing 203 shows across the world. They followed that up by supporting U2 on their Joshua Tree 2017 tour.
