Sevilla FC was one of the protagonists in Spain's first official football match. The game took place in 1890 at the initiative of Sevilla's president, who sent an invitation to the Huelva Recreation Club, the only other active club at the time.
The historic match that ushered in the football era on the Iberian Peninsula concluded with a 2-0 victory for Sevilla. As the years progressed, new clubs emerged on the scene, and local fans relished the increased competition and Sevilla FC's supremacy over other Andalusian clubs, something evident from the 18 Andalusian Cups.
However, local triumphs are not the only source of pride. There are plenty of other trophies in the collection, including the remarkable 7 Europa League titles, the most of any other team in Europe. And all won over a 17-year span, starting in the 2005/2006 season, and the last was claimed in 2022/23.
On the home front, the Red and Whites have one La Liga honour from the 1945–46 season. It was a close call, claiming the top position by one point more than FC Barcelona. But they fared much better in the Cup, winning 5 Copa del Rey Cups.
The Sevillistas have never been relegated lower than the Second Division and played in La Liga for the vast majority of their existence.. For most of those years, the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan was their home ground. About Sevilla FC Football Tickets
British expatriates formed Sevilla Fútbol Club in 1890. However, the lack of other football clubs made for a dull first decade in the team's history. Things started to mature in the 20th century with the establishment of new football clubs, making it possible for Sevilla to compete in regional championships.
Unfortunately, the Andalusian team missed its initial chance to be part of the big league after a defeat by Racing de Santander in an elimination match that decided which of the two teams would join the newly formed La Liga in 1928. But after 6 seasons in the lower tier, the club progressed to La Liga, making its debut in the 1934-35 season. Since then, Sevilla has been back to the Second Division only 7 times, preferring to stay in the company of the elite of Spanish football. They have consistently ranked in the league's upper half ever since.
The UEFA Cups and the modern UEFA Europa League are not the only European experience for the Andalusian team. The Red and Whites have played multiple seasons in the Champions League and it's predecessor the European Cup, with two quarterfinals being the best results. The first was in the 1957–58 season, which was the club's first appearance in the then European Cup. In the 2017–18 season, the team met Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals, and the semifinal dream ended there.

Major Rivalry
The Seville Derby kicked into gear in 1928 when the 3-3 score between Sevilla FC and Real Betis inaugurated the city rivalry. Locals tend to refer to the games as the Great Derby. It has become representative of a class clash because Sevilla FC is located in a more affluent part of town, while Real Betis has a reputation as a team supported by the working class in the city.
So far, there have been over 100 head-to-head matches, with Sevilla FC recording 65 victories and Betis triumphing on 40 occasions. For the next derby, fans can buy Sevilla tickets online at SeatPick.
