Not every World Cup 2026 host city offers the same matchday experience, and the gap is bigger than most fans realise.
We dug into beer prices, hotel rates, heat, crime levels and even mosquito activity across all 11 US venues to work out where supporters are in for a treat, and where they should probably pack extra bug spray.

- Gillette Stadium in Boston tops the ranking thanks to cheap beer and very low mosquito activity, scoring 8.08 out of 10.
- MetLife Stadium, host of the World Cup final, ranks third worst overall (6.32/10) due to high prices and serious mosquito risk.
- SoFi Stadium finishes bottom of the table, weighed down by the most expensive beer in the tournament and the highest mosquito risk score.
MetLife Stadium, set to host the World Cup 2026 final on July 19, has already taken some heat this tournament. Brazil and France players criticised the pitch as hard, dry and slow, and now a new SeatPick study has named it one of the toughest US venues for fan experience too.
So where should fans actually be excited to travel, and where should they brace themselves? We ranked all 11 US host stadiums across six cost and survivability metrics to find out.

MetLife Stadium World Cup Final: Why the Host Venue Ranks Third Worst
It's a strange one. MetLife Stadium lands the biggest game of the tournament on July 19, yet it's only the ninth best venue out of 11 for fan experience, scoring 6.32 out of 10.
The climate isn't actually the problem here. At 85°F it's far more bearable than the brutal conditions at Hard Rock or AT&T Stadium.
It's the costs that hurt. Fans are looking at $13 for a beer and $7 for water, some of the steepest refreshment prices of any host venue.
Hotels aren't kind either, averaging $593 a night, the second most expensive in the whole study.
Then there's the mosquito problem. MetLife sits in one of the worst hotspots in the country, scoring 9.6 out of 10 for risk. Bug spray should be packed alongside the matchday tickets.
It's not just the data either. Fans have already been vocal online. One supporter wrote on X: "No soul. Give me a crumbling San Siro any day." Another said the venue is "one of the worst in the country."
If you're heading to MetLife Stadium for the final, our advice is simple: book early, budget for the hotel hit, and bring repellent.
Gillette Stadium and Arrowhead Stadium: The Best World Cup 2026 Fan Experiences
At the other end of the table, things look a lot rosier.
Gillette Stadium in Foxborough takes the top spot with a score of 8.08 out of 10.
Beer is among the cheapest in the tournament at $8.58, the weather sits at a manageable 83°F, and mosquito risk is practically nonexistent at 0.5 out of 10.
Arrowhead Stadium isn't far behind on 8.03, helped by low mosquito activity, a feels-like temperature of 95°F that's still workable, and the second cheapest hotel rates in the study at $220 a night.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium rounds out the podium on 7.87, and it's the most budget-friendly destination overall. Beer is $8.50, water is $4, and hotels are just $220 a night.
It comes with a trade-off though. Atlanta brings a scorching 103°F feels-like temperature and a high mosquito risk score of 9.4, so sunscreen and repellent are non-negotiable.
It's also worth noting Mercedes-Benz Stadium is the safest venue in the entire study, recording just 450 violent crimes per 100,000 people, less than half the rate seen in Houston.

SoFi Stadium, NRG Stadium and the Toughest World Cup Venues for Fans
SoFi Stadium finishes bottom of the entire ranking on 5.82 out of 10.
It's the priciest spot for a pint at $14, hotel rates run high at $383 a night, and it carries the highest mosquito risk score in the dataset at a perfect 10.
NRG Stadium in Houston isn't far ahead, and it stands out for a different reason entirely.
It records the highest violent crime rate of any venue at 1,148 cases per 100,000 people, and the most extreme feels-like temperature of the tournament at 117°F.
Other venues worth flagging for fans heading to multiple cities include AT&T Stadium in Arlington, which also hits 115°F, Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens at 111°F, and Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, where prices and mosquito risk both sit on the higher end.
Fans heading to Lumen Field in Seattle get the most comfortable climate of the entire tournament at 73°F, though mosquito activity there is moderate at 6.5.
"We looked at everything that actually determines whether a World Cup trip is enjoyable or miserable, not just ticket prices. The range across these venues is extraordinary. Foxborough and Atlanta are genuinely strong propositions. Houston is a different story entirely." - SeatPick CEO Gilad Zilberman.

How We Ranked the World Cup 2026 US Stadiums
SeatPick analysed all 11 US World Cup 2026 host venues across seven cost and survivability metrics.
These covered beer and water prices, hotel rates, feels-like temperatures, violent crime rates and mosquito risk.
Mosquito risk was based on Orkin's Top 50 mosquito hotspots list, covering April 2024 to March 2025. Cities that didn't appear in the Top 50 were assigned a rank of 51, representing the lowest possible risk.
Each metric was calculated using a weighted PERCENTRANK formula, which was then combined into a single composite score out of 10 for each stadium.
All data was collected in June 2026 and is accurate as of that time.
Sources used include the FBI's Crime in the United States 2024 report, a Wego World Cup 2026 hotel price survey from May 2026, official FIFA venue pages, Orkin's 2025 Top 50 Mosquito Cities list, NOAA climate normals from 1991 to 2020, and stadium concession data from World Cup 2026 fan guides and NFL baseline pricing.
