Sunderland’s Europa League Away Days: How to get Tickets

Sunderland fans are very much in dreamland.

A supporter base that has known the depths of League One in recent times, are about to embark on what might be a campaign that leaves a lifetime of memories.

Although, the way things are going for Regis Le Bris’ side, the Champions League might be on the cards for next season.

This coming Wednesday, Sunderland kick off their Europa League campaign with a home match against AZ Alkmaar.

Participation in the Europa League was secured thanks to a seventh-placed finish at the back end of the 2025/26 season. Sunderland’s first back in the Premier League after an eight-year absence.

Only once previously have Sunderland appeared in European competition. After winning the FA Cup in 1973, they played in the now defunct European Cup Winners’ Cup.

It was though short-lived. Sunderland beat Hungarian side Vasas 3-0 on aggregate, before going out to Portuguese giants Sporting CP despite winning their home leg.

Sunderland now have a minimum of eight Europa League games and their long-suffering fans will be absolutely desperate to make the most of their away days in Europe.

Sunderland Heading Back to Portugal & the San Siro

It’s fair to say that Sunderland’s Europa League League Phase draw was kind for the travelling Mackem.

In mid-October, Sunderland head back to Portugal for a clash with second division side SCU Torreense. A week later there is a trip to Lech Poznan in Poland.

Following two more Europa League home games, Sunderland play the stand-out European away day on their fixture list: AC Milan away in the San Siro!

Sunderland’s final away day in the league phase of the Europa League is a trip to Anderlecht in Belgium.

Sunderland Still to Confirm Europa League Away Ticket Allocations

At the time of writing, with Sunderland not playing an away match in Europe until October 15, 2026, the Premier League side have yet to confirm their away ticket allocations for the four games.

In late August, Sunderland confirmed on their official website: “Ticket phasing for the first away fixture of the competition, against SCU Torreense on 15 October, will be communicated in due course. More detailed information on the ticketing process for away fixtures will also be shared at this point. There will be no digital tickets for Europa League games this season.”

Sunderland away tickets are usually snapped up by season ticket holders. There is also a “Black Cat Points” (BCP) system for season ticket holders that rewards fans for the amount of games they have been to.

Teams in the Europa League receive 5% of the overall allocation but demand is expected to be huge from Sunderland’s travelling army who have waited decades to play in Europe.

Sunderland’s Likely Allocation for their Europa League Away Days

Even without an official number from the club, UEFA’s standard 5% rule gives a reasonable guide to how many tickets Sunderland can expect at each ground.

That rule is applied to the home club’s total stadium capacity, not to how many seats are actually put on general sale.

Away Fixture Venue Capacity Est. Away Allocation (5%)
SCU Torreense 23,850 ~1,193
Lech Poznan 42,837 ~2,142
AC Milan 75,800 ~3,791
RSC Anderlecht 21,500 ~1,075

San Siro is by far the biggest ground on Sunderland’s travels, which should in theory hand the Black Cats their largest away allocation of the season at just under 3,800 tickets.

Anderlecht’s Lotto Park tells the opposite story. At just 21,500 seats it is the smallest ground of the four, and could leave Sunderland with only around 1,075 tickets for what is also their final league phase away day.

Add the four estimates together and Sunderland can expect somewhere in the region of 8,200 official away tickets across the whole league phase. That is a modest number set against a fanbase that has waited over 50 years for a run like this.

SCU Torreense vs Sunderland £76 £370
Lech Poznan vs Sunderland £70 £133
AC Milan vs Sunderland £27 £4,603
RSC Anderlecht vs Sunderland £109 £886

AC Milan also has by far the cheapest starting price of the four at just £27, largely because San Siro’s huge capacity floods the resale market with lower priced options.

That same game carries the highest ceiling of the entire away schedule too, with a maximum listing of £4,603 for premium seats at one of football’s most iconic stadiums.

Anderlecht is the opposite case. SeatPick currently lists just 51 tickets for the trip to Brussels, the smallest supply of the four away days, which helps explain why it is also the most expensive on average.

SCU Torreense in Leiria sits in the middle for both price and supply, with 265 tickets live on SeatPick and an average price of £157.

The Portuguese cup winners are playing their European matches in a bigger stadium, as their home ground is too small for European competitions.

How Much Will Sunderland’s Europa League Away Tickets Cost? Price & Demand Predictions

Predicting exact prices months out is never an exact science, but the data already points to a clear pattern for Sunderland’s away days.

Demand is likely to be strongest for AC Milan and SCU Torreense, the first two away games of the campaign. Their should be plenty of seats at the Torreense game, whilst AC Milan away is a match that will have captured the imagination of all Sunderland fans.

Both currently have the fullest resale markets of the four fixtures, which should keep prices more competitive even as demand rises closer to matchday.

Anderlecht and Lech Poznan look set to be tighter tickets. Both sides have strong home support and their fans will be keen to see their own teams take on Premier League opposition.

Expect prices for all four games to climb as the season goes on, particularly if Sunderland are still competitive in the Europa League table by January when the Anderlecht trip comes around.

The club’s Black Cat Points system will also shape who gets first refusal on official tickets, with the most loyal travelling fans given priority over casual buyers.

For everyone else, the secondary market via SeatPick will likely be the only realistic route to all four away days. If there are away tickets on SeatPick, they are marked on the event page to provide you with as much guidance as possible.
