La Liga 2023/24 – Barcelona to Rein Supreme or Real Madrid to Battle Back, Who’s New and Who’s Down and Where to Buy La Liga Tickets to Every Fixture

It’s safe to say that Barcelona came back with a bang in 2022/23, and under former playing legend Xavi, the Nou Camp outfit eased to the title, having more than enough left in the tank to see off the challenge from arch-rivals Real Madrid.

However, 2023/24 promises to be a far tighter race, and no doubt Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid will also look to stage a title push while the likes of Real Sociedad, Villarreal, and Real Betis seek to continue punching above their weight.

Interest in La Liga remains high, and therefore La Liga tickets are much sought after, especially for any game involving Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, with El Clasico being perhaps the most popular game in club football.

At SeatPick, your chances of securing the best-priced tickets for Spanish top-tier action are higher than anywhere else. This is because our platform works with all the major, trusted resellers, and that means fans have a large inventory of tickets to select from, making it simple and easy to find ticketing options that suit your budget and schedule.

On top of this, you’ll find no hidden fees and secure payment channels to help give you the peace of mind you need when buying your tickets.

Barcelona Riding High

Barcelona secured their first La Liga crown in four seasons and did so with aplomb, with Polish forward Robert Lewandowski making an immediate impact following his move from Bayern Munich.

However, things didn’t go quite so well on the European front, with Xavi’s team failing to get into the knockout phase and then suffering the ignominy of then losing to Manchester United in the Europa League.

The Champions League will be a target for Xavi in 2023/24, and there will be a fair bit of rebuilding to take care of, with Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba calling time on their glittering Barcelona careers.

Indeed the Nou Camp itself will be taking a back seat in the new season, with the Catalan giants temporarily moving to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys as their home undergoes renovation.

Real Madrid Set for New Era

Carlo Ancelotti won both the La Liga and Champions League crown in 2021/22, but the Italian saw Real Madrid lose both titles in 2022/23 and all in all, it was a disappointing season for the Bernabeu outfit, and they, too, will have plenty of repairs to take care of when it comes to their uneven squad.

The likes of Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, and Marco Asensio are among those on their way out. No doubt they will once again be the main challengers to Barcelona, and interest in Real Madrid tickets will continue to be very high, as is befitting perhaps the biggest team in world football.

Atletico Madrid once again maintained the level of consistency one can expect of a Simeone side. They finished third for the sixth time in nine seasons, and the additions of Antoine Griezmann and Memphis Depay certainly helped to balance the usual defensive capabilities you would associate with the Colchoneros.

Going Up, Coming Down

Real Valladolid and Elche failed to retain their La Liga status, but perhaps the biggest surprise of those going down comes in the form of Barcelona-based side Espanyol, who lost their La Liga status for only the second time in almost thirty years.

Going in the other direction are Granada and Las Palmas, who will be joined by any one of either Levante, Alaves, Eibar, or Albacete.

European Challenge

Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid collected their customary Champions League berths, and they’ll be joined by overperforming fourth-place side Real Sociedad in the showpiece European Trophy.

Sevilla, as winners of the Europa League (yet again), will also join the quartet in the competition.

Villarreal and Real Betis qualified for the Europa League, and Osasuna finished seventh to secure a spot in the Europa Conference League.

Real Betis will do so without legendary veteran Joaquin, who finally called time on his footballing career at the grand old age of 41, having made almost 1000 appearances in club and international football.
