Over the years, many players have represented both Motherwell and Celtic football clubs. One such example is former Manchester United forward Brian McClair, who began his professional career at Motherwell before earning a move to Celtic in 1983. McClair was capped 30 times by Scotland and spent 11 years at Manchester United following his impressive spell at Celtic Park in which he scored 126 goals.
McClair won 14 trophies at Old Trafford before returning to Motherwell on a free transfer in 1998. He announced his retirement from professional football six months later.
