The Old Lady of Italian football have enjoyed more than their fair share of magical moments in Europe’s premier club competition but have also suffered more heartache than most. By the time they won their first European Cup crown in 1985, the Serie A side had already lost two previous finals. In 1996, a penalty shootout saw Juventus win their first crown of the UEFA Champions League, but that was immediately followed by final defeats in each of the next two seasons, to Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid, respectively. The Lisbon-based side reached the final again in 1988 and would have expected to beat PSV Eindhoven, but lost on penalties in Stuttgart.
