Madness History

Madness were formed in the late 1970s and really started to make an impact when, as a six-piece unit, they brought in Graham McPherson (also known as Suggs), to take over lead vocal duties. Hailing from Camden Town, the band went on to become a massive success from the get-go.

The band's first compilation album, Complete Madness and its follow-up, The Rise & Fall, spawned the group's biggest and best-known hits, It Must Be Love and Our House, both of which proved successful in the United States.

House of Fun, released in 1982, became the band's first UK number-one single and a number of other big-selling singles followed before the band split in 1986. The band reformed six years later and have not looked back since, releasing new material and playing live regularly.
