Romania, known as the Stejarii (The Oaks), have taken part in every Rugby World Cup finals aside from 2019 when they were disqualified due to fielding an ineligible player in the qualifying portion of the tournament.

Therefore head coach Eugen Apjok will be hoping his side can make up for lost time as they take on the big boys in what is one of the trickier of the Pools in the competition.

First up for Romania is a tough test against a hugely impressive Ireland side in Bordeaux, that is followed by South Africa before Scotland hone in on the horizon for what is sure to be a hard-fought encounter at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.

Romania complete their pool schedule with what might be their best chance of victory, a game against Tonga, also at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in Lille.

The chances of the side forcing their way through to the knockout phase in France are fairly slim but they may well add to their overall tally of six World Cup wins, secured over the course of 28 games played in the competition since it's inception in 1987.

As well as the Rugby World Cup, Romania will be taking part in the annual Rugby Europe Championship in the coming year. They'll take on Poland, Belgium and Portugal in Group B and will hope to improve on their runners-up finish in both 2021 and 2022.
