AC Milan vs AS Roma History

AC Milan was founded in 1899, originally under the name Milan Foot-Ball and Cricket Club. A decade into the club's existence an internal dispute led to the formation of Internazionale Milano, and these teams have retained a heated rivalry ever since.

AS Roma, meanwhile, was established in 1927 as a merger between three clubs based in the Italian capital. This was done in an attempt to challenge the stronger teams based in northern Italy.

Roma became Serie A champions for the first time in 1942, nine years before AC Milan claimed the title for the first time since the Italian top flight was revamped in the late 1920s.
