Belle and Sebastian History

Belle and Sebastian were formed in 1996 after founding members Stuart Murdoch and Stuart David, who met at Stow College, teamed up with Stevie Jackson, Isobel Campbell, Chris Geddes and Richard Colburn and joined forces ahead of their debut album, Tigermilk, which secured great reviews and was a commercial success in the UK and across Europe.

Successful EPs

A series of successful EPs, including Lazy Line Painter Jane and Dog On Wheels, followed, and their third studio album, The Boy with the Arab Strap, built on their initial success in 1998. The band's fourth album, Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant, was their first to chart well in the United States, where they quickly secured a large following.

The Life Pursuit (2006), Write About Love (2010), and Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance (2015) all performed well in both the UK and the US and confirmed the band's ability to produce prolific output, and their shows drew in larger and larger crowds.

Late Developers
